The Wild Fiji Acropora is a beautiful SPS coral collected from Fiji and known for its natural branching structure, unique coloration, and strong reef-building growth form. Each colony can vary significantly in color, shape, growth pattern, and polyp extension, which is exactly why this listing is offered as WYSIWYG.
WYSIWYG means “What You See Is What You Get.” The coral shown in the photo is the actual coral you will receive. No mystery frag lottery, no “representative photo,” no emotional roulette wheel disguised as online shopping. The piece pictured is the piece being sold. Photos taken using a typical 14k Orange Filter.
Wild Acropora can be especially rewarding for experienced reef keepers, but they do best in mature, stable aquariums with strong lighting, strong water movement, and consistent parameters. Since this is a wild-collected coral, it may need more time to adjust than aquacultured pieces. Color may shift after placement depending on lighting spectrum, nutrient levels, flow, and overall tank conditions.
Wild Fiji Acropora does best under moderate to high lighting. A general target range of around 200-350 PAR is a good starting point for many Acropora varieties, though exact needs may vary depending on the individual coral.
Avoid placing newly added wild Acropora directly into intense lighting right away. Start lower or in slightly reduced intensity and gradually acclimate upward if needed. Corals, tragically, do not appreciate being introduced to your premium LEDs like they’re being interrogated.
Moderate to high, indirect flow is recommended. Acropora benefits from strong, varied water movement that helps keep debris from settling and supports healthy gas exchange.
Avoid harsh, direct flow that constantly blasts one side of the coral. The goal is active movement around the colony, not turning it into a tiny underwater flag in a hurricane.
Place Wild Fiji Acropora on middle to upper rockwork, depending on your lighting strength and flow pattern.
Give it room to grow and avoid placing it too close to aggressive corals. Acropora may not have dramatic sweeper tentacles like some LPS corals, but neighboring coral warfare is still very much a thing because apparently even stationary animals choose violence.
Stable water quality is extremely important for Wild Fiji Acropora. SPS corals are less forgiving of swings in alkalinity, salinity, and nutrients than many soft corals or LPS corals.
Temperature: 75-78°F
pH Level: 8.1-8.4
Salinity: 1.025-1.026 specific gravity
Alkalinity: 7.5-9 dKH
Calcium: 400-450 ppm
Magnesium: 1250-1400 ppm
Nitrate: 2-15 ppm
Phosphate: 0.03-0.10 ppm
Consistency is more important than chasing perfect numbers. Wild Acropora especially dislikes sudden parameter swings, because apparently tiny sticks with polyps have standards.
Wild Fiji Acropora receives most of its energy from photosynthesis, but occasional feeding can support coloration, growth, and overall health.
Coral Foods: Fine powdered coral foods, amino acid supplements, and SPS-focused foods may be offered occasionally.
Natural Feeding: Acropora may capture small suspended particles from the water column, especially in mature reef systems with healthy plankton and dissolved nutrients.
Feed lightly 1-2 times per week if desired. Avoid overfeeding, as excess nutrients can lead to algae issues or unstable water quality. SPS tanks are very talented at punishing generosity.
This is a WYSIWYG listing.
The coral shown in the photo is the exact coral you will receive. Photos are taken to represent the coral as accurately as possible, but appearance may still vary depending on:
Lighting spectrum
Camera settings
Viewing angle
Polyp extension
Nutrient levels
Tank maturity
Shipping or transport stress
Color may shift after introduction as the coral adjusts to your aquarium. This is normal, especially with wild Acropora. With stable conditions, proper lighting, and strong flow, the coral may regain or improve coloration over time.
Wild Fiji Acropora is best suited for established reef aquariums with stable parameters and experienced SPS care. This coral may take time to adjust after transport, dipping, or placement.
Some temporary changes in color or polyp extension can occur after introduction. This does not always mean the coral is unhealthy, but it should be monitored closely during the adjustment period.
For best results, provide stable alkalinity, strong indirect flow, appropriate lighting, and avoid sudden changes. In other words, give the expensive reef stick the boring consistency it demands.
